40 Days for Life

This fall, join the hundreds of thousands of people participating in 40 Days for Life across North America and internationally. 40 Days for Life saves lives through: Prayer and Fasting for an end to abortion, Peaceful Vigil outside local abortion facilities, and Community Outreach to spread the message that life is sacred.

While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside the local abortion facility.  You can help make a life-saving impact by joining our local vigil at: Planned Parenthood, 2712 Middleburg Dr, Columbia.  To sign up for a time slot, please e-mail 40days@stgiannaguild.org or click on the "Vigil Schedule" link at www.40daysforlife.com/columbia/.

Although the vigil is officially taking place from 7 AM to 7 PM during the entire 40 days, we encourage people to sign up for vigil slots on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, as these are the days abortions are typically performed at this facility.  Please consider signing up for the same one hour time slot each week.

We also insist that people do not make a vigil at Planned Parenthood alone. If possible, find a partner to sign up with you.  However, if this is not practical, please do not hesitate from signing up for a time slot, and we will try to find a partner for you.

All participants need to sign the statement of peace shown here.  Note that if you signup online, you will be asked to sign this document electronically.

Directions to the Vigil site and instructions on where to stand can be downloaded here.

Please e-mail 40days@stgiannaguild.org or call 803-386-8073 if you have any questions.

Life Chain

The local version of this national pro-life rally will take place from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on October 2 at the intersection of Forest Drive and Beltline Blvd. Participants are asked to stand and pray along the sidewalk at the specified location holding pro-life related signs that will be provided.  This event will be taking place along busy streets in cities across the country on the first Sunday in October.   For more information, contact Holly at 803-730-1095 or Deb at 803-920-4933.  An event flyer can be found here.

Rosary Prayer Vigils at Abortion Clinic
Every Saturday at 10 AM
Alternating Saturdays at 8:15 AM

On Saturday mornings, regardless of the weather, groups gather at the entrance to the Planned Parenthood parking lot at 2712 Middleburg Drive to pray the Rosary with the intention of ending abortion.  They pray the three older mysteries of the Rosary, reciting short prayers and singing in between each decade.  The exact format of the Vigils can be downloaded here.

These are peaceful, prayerful Vigils.  Participants do not approach or initiate conversation with anyone coming or going from Planned Parenthood.  However, if someone approaches the Vigil groups with questions or requests for assistance, Vigil participants are happy to help.

If you come, please park in the lot at 2711 Middleburg Drive across the street from Planned Parenthood.
